Tragic Motorcycle Accident Claims Teen Life at Claude Moore Park

Thursday evening a 17 year-old Danny S. Somoza was riding a 2006 Baja 4970 Dirtrunner dirt bike with friends around 9:48 p.m. on August 5, 2010 when he struck the gate at the entrance to the ball fields at Claude Moore Park. The gates are located east of Cascades Parkway and were closed across the roadway. Somoza struck the gate at an undetermined speed and was separated from the motorcycle. The victim was transported to the Lansdowne Campus of INOVA Loudoun Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The victim was not wearing a helmet.
