Town of Purcellville Prepares for Move to New Town Hall

Purcellville, Virginia, November 8, 2011 – The Town of Purcellville is pleased to announce that it will be moving to its new Town Hall location at 221 South Nursery Avenue on Friday, November 18, 2011. Over the past several months, the Town has been completing the renovations to adaptively reuse the former Purcellville Baptist church for general municipal government offices and Town Council Chambers due to the shortage of space at the current Town Hall at 130 East Main Street. In accordance with the Town’s Comprehensive Plan, the new, convenient location maintains the governmental center in close proximity to historic Main Street and downtown and is directly across the street from the newly renovated historic Tabernacle Hall and Skating Rink at Fireman’s Field.

The recently improved parking lots at Fireman’s Field will be available for parking for the Town Hall. JK Moving Services and the Town staff will be managing the move which will involve a complex series of activities during this one day with minimal impact to Town services. Town Hall operations are scheduled to remain open throughout the entire move. The following
information pertains to Town Hall operations during the move:

Regular Walk-In Business – The Town will remain open during its regular business
hours of 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM at 130 East Main Street on November 18th . While some
computer access and records will be impacted, employees from each department will be
available to assist residents and businesses. If possible, the Town asks that regular Town
Hall business be conducted on Thursday, November 17 at the 130 East Main Street
location or on Monday, November 21st at the 221 South Nursery Avenue due to the
moving of furniture, equipment, and crates.

Telephone Service – Telephone service will be discontinued at 2:00 PM on November
18 with some expected delay before service is completely transferred to the new Town
Hall. All phones lines will be out of service for approximately two hours. Town staff will
be answering telephones until 2:00 PM and again when the telephone service is
reestablished at the new Town Hall for the remaining regular business hours that day. All
of the Town’s telephone numbers will remain the same. If you need to reach a Town staff
member by telephone during this period, please use the following cell phone contact

Email and Internet Access – After 5:00 PM on Thursday, November 17th, Town staff
will have limited access to email and the Internet until midday on Saturday, November
19th. During this period, it is important that no emergency or critical email be sent to
Town staff or Town Council at Town email addresses.

Emergency Contacts for Streets, Water and Wastewater – As during regular business
hours, any emergencies involving Town Streets, Water, and Wastewater operations
should be forwarded to 911 and the County’s Emergency Dispatch will contact the
appropriate staff members. Non-emergencies involving these service areas should contact
on-duty Town staff at (540) 338-7700.
