Teen Driver Crosses Center Line Causing Head-On Collision on Evergreen Mills Road

Loudoun Sheriff’s Deputies were called to the scene of a serious accident at Evergreen Mills Road (Route 621) and The Woods Road . The accident occurred Thursday January 12, 2012 at approximately 10:00a.m. and involved two vehicles

Investigation into the incident revealed that an 18-year-old from Chantilly was operating a 2004 Kia Optima westbound on Route 621 when the driver crossed the center of the roadway into the oncoming lane and struck an eastbound 2009 Honda Pilot driven by a 22-year-old female from of Leesburg. An infant passenger in the Honda was in a properly installed child restraint in the vehicle. The infant passenger was taken to INOVA Loudoun Hospital, Lansdowne Campus for evaluation. Both drivers were wearing seatbelts and the airbags did deploy. Both were flown to INOVA Fairfax hospital where they remain in stable, but critical condition.

The crash remains under investigation, pending consultation with the Loudoun Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office.
