Public Offered Opportunity for Input on Design of New Regional Park

The Loudoun County Department of Parks, Recreation and Community Services and the Department of Construction and Waste Management, in conjunction with Wisnewski Blair Associates of Alexandria, Virginia and Kimley-Horn and Associates, Inc. of Reston, Virginia, will host three design “charrettes” (workshops) for the Hal and Bernie Hanson Regional Park.

These workshops represent the primary opportunity for input from the community regarding master planning for the new regional park. The first two charettes – scheduled for Wednesday, February 1, and Monday, February 6, 2012 – will be held from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Dulles South Multipurpose Center, 24950 Riding Center Drive, South Riding, VA 20152. A third workshop will be scheduled at a later date.

Development of the Hal and Berni Hanson Regional Park is planned on a 257-acre parcel located on Evergreen Mills Road in the Dulles District. The first two workshops will provide an overview of the project, a presentation of existing conditions and the opportunity for input regarding future recreational elements at the park. The final charrette (still to be scheduled) will include a presentation of the preferred design concept(s), based on input from the previous sessions, and further public input.
