New Jersey Mike’s Subs Restaurant Celebrates Leesburg Location

At 5:00 pm on Tuesday, July 13, 2010, Town of Leesburg officials will hold a ribbon cutting for Jersey Mike’s Subs, located at 522 Fort Evans Road in the Fort Evans Plaza II Shopping Center.
To commemorate their grand opening, Jersey Mike’s is hosting a 5-day fundraiser from Wednesday, July 14 through Sunday, July 18, 2010, with proceeds benefiting the Leesburg Volunteer Fire Department. With a fundraising coupon, a customer can get a free regular size sub with a minimum $1 donation. More than 10,000 coupons are being distributed throughout the community.

Reaching out to the community is a key component of Jersey Mike’s mission. All franchise owners find ways to support their neighbors and employees are encouraged to volunteer their time and talents as well. “When you are an active contributor in the community it shows,” said Peter Cancro, Jersey Mike’s founder and CEO. “Greg and his team are committed to helping the Leesburg community. We congratulate them on their first store.”

“With this fundraiser, we want to support the men and women who volunteer, and potentially risk their lives, to keep our community safe. Helping those who unselfishly protect our community is the least we can do,” said Leesburg store co-owner Greg Switaj. “We look forward to building meaningful relationships with our new neighbors and invite everyone to come in, and join us in supporting the Leesburg Volunteer Fire Department.”

Greg Switaj was initially attracted to Jersey Mike’s because of the inviting nature of the business model, which has a heavy emphasis on the customer experience and partnering with the community — not to mention the quality of the product. “Leesburg is an incredible community with lots of great businesses. I am looking forward to bringing the number one sub sandwich concept to the area,” said Switaj.

Jersey Mike’s, a sub sandwich franchise with more than 475 stores open and under development nationwide, has a long history of community involvement and support. Started at the Jersey Shore in 1956, Jersey Mike’s serves authentic Northeast-style subs on fresh baked bread, the same recipe it started with over 50 years ago. The company’s mission is to bring its customers the highest quality, freshest made sub in the industry and give back to the communities in which it operates.

I had never been to a Jersey Mike’s and I was underwhelmed. The place looks nice but the food is rather pedestrian. No different than subway except they have weird bread….

Yall are crazy. Jersey Mikes is great. The best place for subs in the area. Calling it no different than Subway is pure blasphemy. Subway is 95% bread, 1% meat, and 4% toppings. Jersey Mikes will serve you a first class sub. Freshly sliced deli meats, not that pre-sliced packaged stuff from subway. And the sub is HUGE, you get what you pay for(in the good way). If you like mayonnaise sandwiches, go to subway, because you sure cant tell there is any meat on there.

I’m a fan. The subs are huge and the meats are fresh. There’s no way I can finish one so I end up with lunch and dinner. I like Subway too, but this place puts them to shame. Yummmmmm.

I’ll have to give it another try. I was disappointed on my first trip. Sounds like it may have been a bad day for them.
