Leesburg Police Respond to Suicide Attempt Foxridge Drive

On Monday evening January 9, 2011 at approximately 11:39 PM, the Leesburg Police Department received a report of a suicidal subject armed with a handgun inside a residence located in the 400 block of Foxridge Drive SW.

A female resident called 911 to report that her husband was threatening suicide with a handgun.  Officers arrived on the scene within two minutes and surrounded the home. Shortly after the officer’s arrival, the subject exited the residence holding the handgun. Officers initiated contact and negotiated with the male subject for several minutes. The situation ended peacefully with the subject listening to officers and placing the handgun on the ground. He was subsequently taken into custody.

The subject, a 42 year-old Leesburg man, was transported to the Loudoun Hospital Center for evaluation. There were no injuries as a result this incident.
